The Mindful Meanderings of a Counsellor

Is Counselling Right For You?

Are you feeling anxious or overwhelmed and need some support as you make sense of things? Maybe you are struggling to adjust to a change in your life, such as a job loss, illness or bereavement (human or animal companion). Sometimes we need to let go of something in order to move forward. You might be struggling to come to terms with infertility, termination, miscarriage or IVF. Perhaps it is time to safely explore something that has happened in your past (such as abuse, neglect or trauma), which is still affecting your life today. Maybe you realise that you have been using coping strategies that themselves cause their own issues, such as disordered eating, reliance on alcohol/substances or other types of addictive behaviour. Counselling sessions can support and help you as you navigate these challenges.

Are you wanting to make some changes in your life, or perhaps learn to accept something that can’t be changed? Maybe you just need someone calm and empathetic who is ready to listen to and support you in making sense of life. I am trained as an ‘integrative’ practitioner, working with humanistic, psychodynamic and CBT techniques, so we can work from a whole being (holistic) perspective. I have a wide selection of therapeutic approaches and skills, and can be creative and flexible in finding what works best for you, including whether you prefer to work in the therapy barn or out in nature.

I know it takes great courage to ask for support and help. You have come this far. I am hoping you can take the next step and get in touch so we can explore together how counselling can help.

Why Seek Counselling?

People access counselling for many different reasons at different times in their lives. I believe there is no issue or topic that is too big or too small for you to bring to me to discuss. Sometimes we might agree on a fixed number of sessions; at other times, the work may be ongoing. At each stage, we will make decisions together. Wild Oak Counselling welcomes diversity, including all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, neurotypes, abilities, sizes, faiths and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Having accessed therapy myself many times throughout my life and training, I fully understand how it feels to be the client, and will do my utmost to make the process as welcoming and comfortable for you as I can. It will be a privilege to work alongside you, there at each step of the way.

Here's a few examples of issues some people may bring to a session.

Creative Ecotherapy

Holistic, creative and nature therapy sessions with Wild Oak Counselling.

My name is Michele Bentley, and I offer effective and evidence-based ways to improve mental health and wellbeing by connecting with nature and working creatively in a way that works for you. These methods can sometimes access parts of us that talking therapy alone can struggle to find words for, especially when working with trauma.
